This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)

$575.00

Original artwork created for an exhibition of art inspired by music. This piece is named for and inspired by the Talking Heads song by the same name. I feel that this song is both haunting and hopeful. There is a longing expressed for a sense of home. I share this longing. The grief knowing that the songwriter is not able to return home, yet makes a home with what he has, is the feeling that this painting inspires for me. In this work, there are portals that are clear and bright, almost windows into the past. These portals are overwhelmed by less transparent areas as if a veil is covering the view.

12 x 12”

Acrylic and oil on linen

All original artworks are final sales.
